World No Tobacco Day - 31 May
DL D.A.V Model School, Pitampura, observes 31 May as World No Tobacco Day annually, with the motto "Healthy Youth is Happy Youth." Recognizing the pivotal issue of tobacco consumption, our school takes this matter seriously to safeguard everyone, especially our youth, from this menace.
Under the guidance of the National Tobacco Control Program, Public Health Foundation of India, and HRIDAY (NGO), the Health & Wellness Club of our school takes several initiatives to curb tobacco use through active intervention in various areas:
1. Anti-Tobacco Squad: The Health Club regularly conducts frisking operations to crack down on offenders and confiscate e-cigarettes.
2. Market Monitoring: Regular visits are made to nearby markets and kiosks to prevent the unlawful selling of tobacco products.
3. Sensitization Programs: All stakeholders are regularly sensitized through posters, messages, street plays, and workshops to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco.
4. Employee Awareness: Class IV employees are shown anti-tobacco videos and educated about the gruesome effects of this habit.
5. Competitions: Regular poster and video making competitions are organized on themes related to the harmful effects of tobacco.
We are proud to declare our school as a ZERO TOLERANCE ZONE against tobacco, and our efforts have been recognized by the National Tobacco Control Organization. We have received felicitation for our mass awareness campaigns against tobacco and for providing a healthy and conducive environment for learning.
