Class 6th Chapter food

Ans .E3 A diet which contains all the nutrients in proper amount is called Balanced diet .We must eat balanced diet because it makes our body healthy and prevents diseases.

Ans.E4  Obesity can be caused by
-- Eating more than required quantity of food
----Eating fried food which is rich in oils and gives more calories than required

Ans.E5 In mountain region soil and water both are poor in iodine ,so people living over there  suffer more from goitre   rather than coastal areas where both water and salt is rich in iodine .

Ans .E6   Sources of the following
  Carbohydrates-----Cereals and vegetables like potato
Proteins  --------    Milk, eggs, meat ,pulses
  Fats--------mustard, groundnut, meat ,fish
Roughage -------- green leafy  vegetables , salads
Vitamin A -------Cod liver oil, yellow vegetables
Vitamin C------- Citrus fruits like amla ,orange, guava

Ans.E7  Importance of Water
1 It helps in the reactions to take place in our body
2  It enables removal of waste
3  It helps in distribution of oxygen , food , nutrients etc.in our body
4 Water helps in maintaining uniform body temperature.

Greetings Class 10th & 11th

Welcome to the new session that begins from 15th April
Best of luck and all happiness for your new session !

You Can Do It

Class 6th (attention)

This is very important for all the sixth A and E class students that they all must come come prepared with the chapter "Our Environment " ,so that whenever we meet in the next class we may have a discussion on different questions and topics.
You may also prepare questions like
  1. Name the plant which blooms in the morning / light
  2. Name the flower which faces the sun .
  3. Choose the biodegradable and non biodegradable out of the following--- Cotton, nylon socks, plastic bags, iron nails, leather bags, aluminum  cans, ball pens .
  4. Name the organisms used to hasten the process of composting.
  5. Write the equation of photosynthesis
  6. What is rain water harvesting?
  7. Flow diagram showing balance in nature.
Read the chapter thoroughly.

Tuesday 9 April 2013

Class 6th Please note

Question number D6-----There is a flow diagram in the page number 8(Inter-relationships among the different components of the environment ) You may  draw it referring that from the book

Question number 7 ---To find the answer of this question you may refer to the text page number 5last two paragraphs.

I hope you will read and do the needful .

Keep learning and enjoying to learn

Our Environment (6th class)

Our Environment
Note--You are advised to write these notes in your note book and draw beautiful diadrams or paste pictures of all plants, animals  nonliving objects etc. wherever necessary .
You must write index as factors of environment in detail.
Our environment is made up of two type of factors
1 Biotic
2Abiotic
Biotic factors are those factors which are living eg plants ,animals and micro-organisms.
Abiotic factors are those factors which are non living eg wire, wood ,aluminum cans, chalk duster etc.
More about biotic  factors
Producers
Those organisms which make their own food because they have a special green matter called chlorophyll in their leaves. So the green plants are also called autotrophs .The process by which green plants make their own food is called photosynthesis.

The equation of photosynthesis is

                                           sunlight
Carbon dioxide + water       -----------------            glucose +oxygen
                                              chlorophyll
Consumers
Those organisms which can not make their food and depend  upon others for food are called consumers e.g. animals. They don't have green matter (chlorophyll) in them.
Primary consumers or herbivores --
Those animals which eat plants directly are called primary consumers e.g. cows ,buffaloes, goatetc.
secondary consumers or carnivores
Those animals  which eat herbivores e.g. lion ,cheetah ,fox
Decomposers -
They are micro-organisms which live dead and decaying organic matter .They decompose the organic matter and help in recycling the dead organic matter e.g. fungi and bacteria.

Important points for class 6th

Our Environment
Ans C 1 Rain water harvesting  -Rain water harvesting is a way to use and recycle rain water. The rain water is collected through pipes that take it underground and store it in tanks to be used later .In metropolitan cities like Delhi we collect rain water at the terrace and through pipes it is brought down to the tanks ,pits or wells.
This rain water can be used for various purposes after filtration. If rain water is not harvested it will be wasted and we will run short of water .
Ans.C2 We segregate the two type of wastes so that we can dispose them in an ecofriendly manner. The kitchen waste  can be made to be decomposed to form compost for the plants while the plastics can be recycled for reuse.Twin bin allows
1         the separation of waste  and 2  ecofriendly disposal and recycling of waste.
Blue bins are used for disposing off nonbiodegradable waste like plastic and green are used for disposing biodegradable wastes likes peels ,leaves etc.

Ans .C3   1 Swich off fans and lights when not required .
2  Reduce the usage of Air conditioners
3 Celebrate birthdays by gifting saplings to each other
4  Use  less water in bathing ,brushing teeth etc.
5  Use more of jute and cloth bags instead of polybags.

Ans.C4  The carbondioxide obtained from air is essential for photosynthesis.

Ans.C5  Repair the leaking taps and Use  less water in bathing ,brushing teeth etc.

Ans c6 Plastic is very harmful because  they can not be broken down by  decomposers . They get piled up and block the sewer lines. Burning of plastic produces harmful gases .So we should never use polybags rather we should use jute or cloth bags.

D Answers
1The herbivores will get more energy because they directly eat plants .
2They are black in color and do not have sweat glands to release their heat so they cool themselves in water.
3The  water that is evaporated from earth’s surface makes clouds which enter into the water cycle again.
4Decomposition of dead animals is very important for –1 recyclying of materials present in them and ---2 they help in cleaning up the earth
5  (1)Autotroph---- Those organisms which make their food on their own and donot depend upon others for food e.g. green plants .they have chlorophyll.
Heterotrophs ----Those  organisms which depend upon others for food because they can not make their own food e.g. cows lions etc. They donot have chlorophyll.

(2) Decomposers--- The organisms which derive their nutrition from dead and decaying organic matter are called decomposers. They break down complex matter and help in recyclying e.g. fungi and bacteria
Scavangers--- Animals and birds that consume dead bodies of animals are called scavangers e.g.—vultures,jackalsetc.They help in cleaning up the earth.
