Q Why does Octopus die after laying eggs?
After the mother octopus lays her eggs, she guards them and stays with them 24-7 until they hatch. She doesn't leave them, even to find food for herself. By the time they hatch, she's usually too weak to find food. The mother octopus has nothing to eat in this time, and so starves to death. Her body is her offspring's first meal, but in some cases the mothers body will be found by a larger animal, such as the giant sea star, which will then eat the carcass and the baby octopi.
A MELANCHOLY WONDER...

ReplyDeleteIt is such a mysterious and strange fact which takes time to digest
ReplyDeleteSo mam, if mother (by chance) find the meal for herself and her offspring nearby than she would be able to survive or in short this is the only factor(food shortage) that kills her ?
